Bio

MichelleB_2008 Michelle Baltazar is an author, editor and web publisher focusing on finance and multicultural affairs. She is the editor of Financial Standard, an industry publication for fund managers, financial planners and wealth professionals in Australia.

She is also the publisher of The Australian Filipina Business and Lifestyle magazine and a contributing TV reporter for Balitang Australia, the local segment of Philippine-based network ABS-CBN.

Prior to joining Financial Standard, Michelle worked for business magazine BRW and Shares magazine (London). Her published works include an article on human trafficking of  Filipinos into Australia, featured in Newsbreak magazine (Philippines) in 2007.  She is also the author of The Beginner’s Guide to Financial Spreadbetting and the Financial Standard Guide to Managed Accounts.

In 2002, Michelle was awarded first runner up in the Friends Provident’s Socially Responsible Investment Journalist of the Year Awards. In 2008, she received a Global Filipino Youth Award for achievements in media.

She completed a Science degree in Biochemistry and Animal Biology from the University of Sydney.

Update: In April 2009, she visited the Philippines on a writing trip on behalf of the Sydney Filipino Press Group. Her travel experience is documented in a book she will publish in July titled, “Love, Manila: Words and Images by Michelle Baltazar”.

Michelle also volunteers in a community radio program, Radio Sandigan, on Filipino culture and entertainment. Fridays 9am – 10am on the radio 88.1 fm or livestreaming www.radio2rdj.com.
